Oatmeal with Antonovka apples, dried blueberries, and rhubarb is a refined blend of flavors that embodies the warm spirit of Russian cuisine. Antonovka apples add a slight tartness that harmonizes with the sweetness of dried blueberries. Rhubarb adds a touch of freshness, while cinnamon and cream make the porridge tender and aromatic. This breakfast provides energy and warms you on a cold morning. Historically, oatmeal was a staple in Russia, with apples and berries as its natural companions. This recipe is not just food but a true culinary comfort that connects past traditions with contemporary tastes.

1
Juice 3 apples for 200 ml. You will need 3-4 apples depending on their size. Set one apple aside for decoration; it's better to cut it just before serving to prevent oxidation. Another one is for adding to porridge.

Pour the oatmeal into a pot and add milk (since cream will be added later, you can reduce the fat content by using rice or any other non-dairy milk).
- Oat flakes: 1 glass
- Milk: 200 ml
3
Add sugar and place on the heat, bring to a boil over low heat while stirring constantly. Once it boils, pour in the juice and bring to a boil again.
- Brown sugar: 1 glass

Peel 1 apple if desired, I put it this way, remove the core and slice it thinly, set aside a few slices for decoration.

Add apples, about 2 cm diced rhubarb (optional), and 2 tablespoons of dried blueberries to the porridge (substitutes: cranberries, lingonberries, blackberries — just make sure the berries are dried!). I added cocoa shavings at this stage, but if you don't have it, it's better not to replace it with cocoa powder — the effect won't be quite the same. Just make it without.
- Antonov apples: 5 piece
- Rhubarb: 1 stem
- Dried blueberries: 3 tablespoons

Cook on low heat for 3 minutes. To keep the apples al dente. Remove from heat and check the consistency; if it's too thick for your taste, add milk or apple juice and mix well, cover with a lid. Keep the porridge covered for another 5 minutes.
