Cheese snail

Cheese snail is a cozy, aromatic treat made from puff pastry generously filled with melted cheese. Its shape resembles a spiral, as if created by nature itself, and the golden crust tempts with its appetizing crunch. This recipe originated in European culinary tradition, where the art of baking is highly valued. The delicate dough sealed around the cheese filling creates a harmony of flavors — softness and richness. Sesame adds spicy notes and a light nutty crispness. This dish is perfect for cozy home evenings, light snacks or even festive feasts. Cheese snails can be served as a standalone treat or as an addition to a fresh salad, paired with strong tea or young wine. The simplicity of preparation makes it indispensable in the collection of favorite recipes.

1
Roll out the dough (not too thin) on a floured surface. Cut into five equal strips.
- Puff pastry: 500 g
2
Generously spread cheese (grated on a coarse grater) on each strip. Pinch the edges tightly to form ropes.
- Cheese: 150 g
3
Grease the baking dish or tray (just a little!) with oil. Place the snail: sequentially attach the strands, starting from the center and going around.
4
Whisk the yolk in a separate container until smooth. Brush the snail with the beaten yolk over the entire surface.
- Chicken egg: 1 piece
5
Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of sesame (or sea salt) on top.
- Sesame: to taste
6
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.
