Crostini is a classic Italian dish, simple yet delightful. Its roots trace back to medieval Tuscany, where peasants used toasted bread as a base for various toppings. These crispy baguette slices, baked to a golden color, are infused with the aroma of garlic and the refined taste of extra virgin olive oil. Their flavor is rich, with a slight spiciness from black pepper and the fresh sea taste of salt. Crostini are perfect as an appetizer or as a base for more complex dishes. They pair wonderfully with cheese, prosciutto, tomatoes, or pâtés. This versatile dish can be adapted to any taste preference while embodying Italian culinary simplicity and sophistication.
