German Hearty Dish Labskaus

The classic recipe uses corned beef, which is still produced in large quantities in Germany.

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Peel the potatoes, cut them randomly, and boil until cooked. This will take about 20 minutes.
- Potato: 500 g

Chop a small onion finely.
- Onion: 1 piece

Fry in a pan with 15 grams of butter for 2 minutes.
- Butter: 30 g
- Onion: 1 piece

Add meat to the same pan and heat it up.
- Beef stew: 300 g

Drain the cooked potatoes, add milk, and mash into a puree. There's no need to try too hard; the puree should be lumpy.
- Potato: 500 g
- Milk: 125 ml

Add enough broth to make the puree moist but not too runny.
- Beef broth: 250 ml

Add onion with meat to the puree, 200 grams of chopped beetroot, a tablespoon of beetroot marinade, mix and add salt and pepper to taste.
- Onion: 1 piece
- Beef stew: 300 g
- Pickled beetroot: 230 g
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste

Fry the egg in the remaining oil.
- Chicken egg: 4 pieces

Place 2 spoons of labskause on a plate, top with 1 fried egg, and garnish with slices of pickled beetroot, pickles, and herring.
