Grilled Cheese and Oregano Tortillas
4 servings
30 minutes
Grilled tortillas with cheese and oregano are a simple yet incredibly aromatic recipe from Mexican cuisine. The origins of this dish trace back to the street food traditions of Mexico, where fresh tortillas are browned on a hot grill, acquiring a crispy texture. Melted cheddar cheese fills the tortillas with a rich creamy flavor, while fresh oregano leaves add spicy herbal notes. Red pepper gives a slight heat, making each bite even more expressive. Perfect as an appetizer for friendly gatherings or picnics – quick to prepare, vibrant in taste, and always appetizing. Serve hot and enjoy the combination of textures: crispy tortilla, gooey cheese, and fresh aromatic herbs.

Preheat the grill or barbecue.

Place the tortillas on a rack and crisp them for 30 seconds. Flip and sprinkle with grated cheese. Fry for another minute until the tortillas are browned and the cheese is slightly melted (it will fully melt later).
