Christmas cookies made with egg yolks embody the coziness and warmth of winter holidays. This recipe has roots in European traditions where sweet aromatic treats take center stage on festive tables. The delicate dough made with butter, egg yolks, and sour cream gains softness and lightness, while powdered sugar adds a subtle sweetness. A light vanilla note and airy texture make these cookies a perfect complement to a cup of hot cocoa or fragrant tea. The recipe's uniqueness lies in its versatility: you can cut out shapes, cover them with icing, or add nuts. It's not just baked goods; it's a symbol of family unity when the scent of warm cookies fills the home and brings joy to everyone who tries them.
