Cheese scones are a refined delicacy of European cuisine that embodies the harmony of tender dough and rich cheese flavors. Their history traces back to traditional English scones, originally served with tea but later evolving into many variations. In this recipe, butter adds lightness to the dough while kefir ensures softness and a slight tanginess. As the cheese melts during baking, it creates a delicious crust and deep, rich flavor. Scones are perfect for breakfast, make a wonderful addition to soups and salads, or can replace regular bread at dinner. They can be served warm with butter or sour cream while enjoying the aroma of fresh baking.

Mix the dry ingredients, then add cold butter and cut it into the flour with a knife until crumbly.

Pour in the kefir and knead the dough. Do not knead for long, just lightly, otherwise it may not rise. The dough will be sticky. Therefore, when working with it, you need to sprinkle the work surface with flour.

- Wheat flour: 280 g

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2 cm and cut out circles. Transfer the circles to a baking sheet lined with parchment. Place the scones spaced apart, as they will increase in size. Brush the top with melted butter.
