Oatmeal cookies are a classic treat of Scottish cuisine rooted in ancient traditions of using oats. Scots have long valued oat products for their nutrition and accessibility. These crispy, slightly crumbly cookies have a rich creamy flavor with a subtle caramel note, thanks to the combination of butter, sugar, and oats. They pair perfectly with a cup of tea or coffee and can also serve as a base for desserts with jam or honey. Their simplicity in preparation makes them an excellent choice for home baking, and the aroma filling the kitchen while baking brings comfort and warmth.
