Fruit charlotte is a delightful dessert of Russian cuisine, whose history traces back to 19th century Europe. Initially made with bread, it later transformed into a tender sponge cake loved by many generations. This version is enriched with fruits: sweet apples, juicy plums, and soft bananas, giving it a rich flavor with a slight tang and pleasant texture. The airy batter made from whipped eggs turns out fluffy and delicate, while the layer of fruit inside makes each piece juicy and aromatic. Charlotte is perfect for tea time; it can be served as a standalone dessert or complemented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Its ease of preparation makes it accessible even for novice cooks.
