American Pea Soup
8 servings
150 minutes
American pea soup is a true classic of home cooking in the USA, rooted in traditional colonial recipes. Thick, rich, and nourishing, it warms on cool evenings and provides comfort. Smoked ham gives it a deep, salty-sweet flavor while vegetables add pleasant freshness. Peas break down to turn the broth into a velvety creamy texture. This dish is perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner, especially with fresh bread. In America, it is often made in large pots to allow the flavors to fully develop and becomes even richer the next day. Try this tradition of coziness and warmth!
