Burrito
6 servings
40 minutes
The name comes from the Spanish word burro, meaning "donkey." There is a legend that the dish was named after the Mexican Juan Mendoza, who was nicknamed Donkey. Mendoza sold food on the border of Mexico and Texas, saved on dishes and sold meat and vegetables not in a ceramic pot, but in a tortilla. Burrito is made from a wheat tortilla, in which they wrap, for example, minced meat, beans, cheese, tomatoes, rice, avocado, sour cream or chili-based salsa.

1
Heat the oil in a pan.
- Vegetable oil: 80 ml

2
Fry the chopped onion for 5-8 minutes until soft.
- Onion: 1 head

3
Add cumin and chili to the onion, crush the garlic through a press, sauté for 30 seconds, then add the drained beans and half a glass of water, stir, cover with a lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Onion: 1 head
- Ground cumin (zira): pinch
- Ground chili pepper: 0.3 teaspoon
- Garlic: 1 clove
- Canned beans: 200 g

4
Remove the lid and mash the beans with a potato masher. There's no need to turn the beans into a uniform puree; just mash about half of them. Continue to simmer for another 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

Add the beans and fry, stirring, for another 2 minutes. At the end, salt to taste.
- Canned beans: 200 g
- Salt: to taste

8
Heat the tortilla in a dry skillet for 30 seconds on each side.
- Tortillas: 6 pieces
