Fruit salad is a light and refreshing dish popular in Russian cuisine for its simplicity and versatility. Its roots trace back to the tradition of preparing fresh fruit desserts, where seasonal fruits were gathered and mixed into harmonious combinations. This salad surprises with contrasting flavors: the sweetness of apples and pears pairs with the tartness of citrus fruits and a slight salty hint from mayonnaise. Powdered sugar adds a delicate sweet aftertaste, while fragrant orange zest refreshes the dish. Its versatility allows for different seasonal fruits to be used, making it an ideal option for summer picnics or festive gatherings. Garnished with prunes, grapes, and fresh berries, it delights not only in taste but also looks impressive on the table.
