Potato slices with minced meat are a hearty dish of European cuisine that combines the tenderness of potatoes, the richness of meat filling, and the spiciness of spices. This dish is perfect for a family dinner or festive table. Its history traces back to traditional European casseroles where layers of ingredients are baked to a golden crust, filling the home with aromas of warmth and coziness. The potato slices soak up meat juices and mayonnaise, becoming soft and juicy, while the cheese crust adds an appetizing crunch. Served hot, it pairs well with vegetable salads or light sauces, making each bite a true gastronomic delight.

1
Chop the onion, grate the carrot on a coarse grater. Fry all of this.
- Onion: 1 piece
- Carrot: 1 piece
2
Add the minced meat to the frying. A few minutes before it's done, add adjika, salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. Set aside the cooked minced meat.
- Ground meat: 800 g
- Adjika: 3 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste
3
Peel the potatoes and slice them no thicker than 5 mm (the thinner, the better). Dip the sliced potatoes in boiling water for a couple of minutes.
- Potato: 12 pieces
4
Grease the bottom of the dish with oil. Layer the potatoes on top in 1-2 layers. The slices should overlap each other.
5
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the potatoes. Top with all the minced meat. You can add another thin layer of mayonnaise on top.
- Mayonnaise: 400 g
- Ground meat: 800 g
6
Place the remaining potatoes on top, just like the bottom layer.
- Potato: 12 pieces
7
Whisk the remaining mayonnaise with the egg and pour it over the potatoes. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and sprinkle it on top.
- Mayonnaise: 400 g
- Chicken egg: 1 piece
- Cheese: 200 g
8
Preheat the oven. Bake at 180 degrees for about 20 minutes. You can cover the baking tray with foil.
