Draniki with onions and lard is a traditional dish of Belarusian cuisine that combines the crispy texture of potatoes, the spiciness of onions, and the rich flavor of lard with garlic. Historically, draniki emerged as an affordable and hearty food for peasants and over time became a symbol of home comfort and national hospitality. The addition of lard makes the dish juicier and more aromatic, while garlic adds a subtle sharpness. Draniki are served hot, pair perfectly with sour cream or fresh vegetables, and can also serve as an excellent side dish to meat dishes. They are cooked in a hot pan with a little oil to maintain a golden crust and appetizing softness inside. This recipe is a true find for lovers of simple yet incredibly delicious dishes.
