Meatballs in sweet and sour sauce

There was the same confusion with Chinese meatballs as with Swedish ones: in fact, these are meatballs like our hedgehogs. The Chinese flavor is due to the sauce made of tomatoes and lemon juice with added sugar. Steamed vegetables are also suitable as a side dish - then you will get an almost dietary dish, and baked potatoes - if you want to eat something really filling.

1
In a deep skillet, heat oil and sauté one chopped onion until golden. Add tomato sauce, lemon juice, and brown sugar, and season with salt. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Vegetable oil: 30 ml
- Onion: 2 heads
- Tomato puree: 430 g
- Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar: 50 g
- Salt: to taste

2
Place the minced meat in a bowl. In another bowl, mix lightly beaten eggs, rice boiled for three minutes, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, salt, and pepper with a fork. Then mix thoroughly with the meat.
- Ground beef: 900 g
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Long grain rice: 70 g
- Breadcrumbs: 145 g
- Onion: 2 heads
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste

3
Again, heat the sauce over medium heat until it reaches a light boil. Shape small meatballs from the minced meat and carefully immerse them in the hot sauce. Simmer the meatballs in the moderately boiling sauce for ten to fifteen minutes. Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste and serve hot.
- Ground beef: 900 g
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste
