Spanakopita Spinach Pie

Spanakopita is a traditional pie that is a staple at any Greek feast. The main feature of spanakopita is the thinnest phyllo dough, which is used to wrap the spinach, onion and feta filling. The recipe allows for liberties: instead of fresh spinach, you can use frozen spinach, and instead of feta, you can use any brine cheese. To make a Greek spinach pie, follow our video instructions.

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Chop the onion finely.

Fry finely chopped onion in a large pan until soft.
- Onion: 2 heads

Then add finely chopped garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.
- Garlic: 2 cloves

Add finely chopped spinach and continue to sauté for about 2 minutes until the greens are soft. Then remove from heat.
- Spinach: 500 g

Mix chopped parsley and green onions, eggs, and feta into the spinach. Season with nutmeg, and add salt and pepper to taste.
- Parsley: 25 g
- Green onions: 50 g
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Feta cheese: 200 g
- Olive oil: 100 ml
- Onion: 2 heads
- Garlic: 2 cloves

Lay a sheet of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish. Brush it with oil, lay the next sheet, and repeat this procedure with two more sheets.
- Filo dough: 8 pieces
- Olive oil: 100 ml

Place the filling on the dough and cover with four layers of dough, brushing each with olive oil.

Fold the edges of the dough and grease the top of the pie.
