Pepper stuffed with meat and rice is one of the most popular dishes in Bulgarian cuisine. This recipe combines the tenderness of minced meat, the nutrition of rice, and the bright aroma of sweet pepper, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. Historically, the dish has roots in traditional Balkan cuisines where stuffed vegetables became a popular cooking method. Juicy peppers filled with fragrant filling are slowly stewed in tomato sauce, absorbing its rich flavor. This dish is perfect for a family dinner, and its slight acidity from the tomato paste nicely balances the meat filling. Stuffed peppers are best served with sour cream and fresh herbs, adding extra freshness and softness. The simplicity of preparation and availability of ingredients make it a favorite in home cooking.
