Cabbage pie is a traditional dish of Russian cuisine, symbolizing home comfort and family gatherings. Its history dates back to ancient times when cabbage pies were popular among peasants due to the availability of ingredients. The taste of this pie is delicate, juicy, and slightly sweet thanks to the combination of stewed cabbage, carrots, and tomato sauce. The crispy puff pastry gives it a unique texture, while herbs and spices add zest. This pie is perfect for both everyday lunch and festive tables, especially when paired with sour cream or fragrant tea. It's convenient to take on the go or serve as a snack.
