Casserole is one of the favorite dishes of Russian cuisine, combining simplicity of preparation and rich flavor. Historically, it emerged as a way to use leftover ingredients, transforming them into a nutritious and appetizing dish. In this version of the casserole, a tender layer of mashed potatoes conceals a juicy filling made from aromatic pork mince sautéed with coriander, mustard, and tomatoes. Corn adds a light sweetness while melted cheese gives an appetizing crust. This dish is perfect for family dinners or cozy home gatherings, and its rich taste and heartiness make the casserole an excellent choice for cold evenings.
