The berry drink from Elena Molokhovets' recipe is a refreshing beverage with a rich berry flavor and a delicate hint of vanilla. Its history dates back to the 19th century when Molokhovets' famous cookbook offered hostesses exquisite yet accessible recipes. Currants, raspberries, cranberries or barberries are carefully boiled and strained to become an aromatic elixir that delights with natural sweetness enhanced by sugar syrup. The chilled drink becomes the perfect companion for summer heat, quenching thirst and filling the body with vitamins. It is served in beautiful glass bottles that preserve the traditions of home preparation. Vanilla adds an exquisite note, turning the drink into a gastronomic pleasure. It is not just a drink but a sip of history connecting the past with the present.

1
Washed berries (in our case black and red currants; Molokhovets suggests cranberry, raspberry, barberry), cleaned of stems and leaves, are placed in cold water (4 cups) and boiled (I bring to a boil) together with a vanilla pod.
- Fresh berries: 220 g
- Vanilla: 1 stem
2
Prepare the bottles (i.e., scald them and their caps).
3
Place a funnel in the bottle, put a sieve on it, and slowly pour the drink into the bottle, straining the berries through the sieve.
4
Separately mix 2 cups of boiled water with sugar and pour the sugar syrup into the bottles.
- Sugar: 1 glass
5
Chill well (preferably in the fridge) and enjoy drinking it in the heat!
