Bacon Wrapped Shrimps
4 servings
30 minutes
Bacon-wrapped shrimp is an exquisite dish of Mediterranean cuisine that combines the tenderness of seafood with the savory taste of crispy bacon. Royal shrimp wrapped in thin strips of slightly cooked bacon create a perfect balance of saltiness, sweetness, and smoky notes. This appetizer pairs wonderfully with light vegetable salads or fresh herbs. Historically, this recipe emerged as a way to enhance the flavor of seafood and today it is an integral part of restaurant and home menus in many countries. The dish is served hot, making it ideal for festive dinners or romantic evenings, especially accompanied by white wine or freshly squeezed citrus juice.

1
Place the rack at the top level of the oven, about 15 cm from the heating element, and turn it on. Line the baking dish with foil and cover it with a special flat lid with holes.
2
Cut each piece of bacon into 2 parts lengthwise, then divide each of these parts into 3 - a total of 24 pieces of bacon will result. Line a plate with 4 layers of paper towels and place the bacon on top, then cover with 2 more layers of towels. Put it in the microwave on high power for 1.5 minutes - the bacon should start to melt but remain pliable.

Wrap each shrimp with a piece of bacon and place it on the lid, tucking the ends of the bacon under the shrimp. Fry until the shrimp turn pink and the ends of the bacon become brown, about 3.5 minutes — after about 1.5 minutes of frying, the form should be turned to ensure even cooking.

Chop the onion. Skewer the shrimp and place on a plate, sprinkle with onion before serving.
