Trim excess fat from the ham and make shallow cross cuts on top in a grid pattern. Insert cloves into each intersection. Lightly brush with olive oil, place on a baking sheet, and bake for 1 hour.

- Carnation: 2 teaspoons
- Olive oil: to taste
