Black chokeberry compote is a traditional drink of Russian cuisine filled with depth of flavor and healing properties. Black chokeberry, known for its antioxidants and tartness, combined with the citrus freshness of orange and warmth of cinnamon transforms into a rich, aromatic drink. Historically prepared for winter to preserve vitamins during the cold season, the compote has a deep ruby color, pleasant sweet-sour notes and a warming aroma that evokes the coziness of winter evenings. It perfectly complements family meals and can be enjoyed as a standalone drink or used as a base for hot cocktails. The sugar syrup softens the taste of the chokeberry while prolonged steeping allows the aroma to unfold. It’s an ideal way to preserve summer fruits and add a bit of sunny warmth to winter days.
