Karelian Matchmaking Pies "Pies for the Son-in-Law"

"Matchmaking" pies - keitinpiiroa. In the past - a traditional ritual dish of the Karelians. Such pies were fried when matchmakers came to the house. "Matchmaking" pies were treated to the son-in-law when he came to visit the t yet , hence the other name - "pies for the son-in-law". Also, pies for the son-in-law were served on the table of builders when the log house was ready. In some Karelian villages they were baked from flour of the new harvest after the last sheaf was reaped.

Preparing unleavened dough. Whisk an egg, add sour cream, milk, 1 tbsp of sugar, a pinch of salt. You can add a little butter, but don't overdo it, otherwise the pies won't be crispy.
- Chicken egg: 1 piece
- Sour cream: 2 tablespoons
- Milk 3.5%: 50 ml
- Butter: 1 tablespoon
- Sugar: 1 tablespoon

Knead a thick dough.

Let it stand for 10-15 minutes.

Roll the dough into a sausage and cut it into equal pieces.

Roll out thin circles and sprinkle with flour to prevent sticking.
- Wheat flour: 2 glasss

Sprinkle half of each circle with sugar, fold in half. Pinch the edges.
- Sugar: 1 tablespoon

Fry the pies in a well-heated pan with vegetable oil on both sides until golden brown. This amount of ingredients makes about 18-20 pies.
