Simple Chocolate Glaze

Simple chocolate glaze is an exquisite addition to desserts from European cuisine. Its history traces back to the traditions of confectioners who created smooth, shiny glazes for decorating cakes, pastries, and buns. With a rich chocolate flavor and subtle sweetness, it perfectly complements baked goods, giving them an elegant appearance. The glaze is easy to prepare: sugar, cocoa, and water are combined into a homogeneous mass and heated over low heat until bubbles form. As it cools, it thickens into a silky coating. Warm glaze is soft and runny while cooled glaze gains strength creating a crispy texture. It is used for coating pastries, drizzling over ice cream, and even as decorative patterns on desserts. This is a classic solution for sweet masterpieces!

1
We mix sugar with cocoa powder and add water.
- Sugar: 0.5 glass
- Cocoa powder: 2 tablespoons
- Water: 3 tablespoons
2
Mix well and place on the heat. Cook the glaze over low (very low) heat, stirring constantly.
- Sugar: 0.5 glass
- Cocoa powder: 2 tablespoons
- Water: 3 tablespoons
3
First, the sugar will dissolve, then the syrup will start to bubble.
- Sugar: 0.5 glass

After the bubbles appear, we boil the glaze for another minute and remove it from the heat. We let the glaze cool down and thicken: when hot, it will be too liquid, and when completely cooled, it will crystallize and harden.
