The 'Pencils' cookies are not just a sweet treat but a true culinary masterpiece that can spark creativity. Their unique shape, resembling colored pencils, makes them an ideal snack for both children and adults, adding a playful touch to tea time. The light and crispy dough with the delicate sweetness of vanilla sugar and sour cream harmoniously combines with the thin colored 'cores', creating an exquisite palette of flavors. These cookies can be served as an original dessert or used to decorate a festive table. Making them is a true pleasure, as the process resembles creating small gastronomic masterpieces. 'Pencils' are the perfect choice for those who want to add a splash of creativity to everyday life!

1
Cream softened butter with powdered sugar.
- Butter: 100 g
- Powdered sugar: 100 g
2
Add the yolk, sour cream, vanilla sugar, and salt.
- Egg yolk: 2 pieces
- Sour cream: 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla sugar: 0.5 teaspoon
- Salt: 0.3 teaspoon
3
Add sifted flour in portions; I used slightly less than 250 g. The dough should be soft, elastic, and not stick to your hands.
- Wheat flour: 250 g
4
We divide the dough into 2 parts: 1/3 and 2/3.
5
Roll out most of the dough into a rectangle about 15 cm wide. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
6
Divide the smaller part by the number of food coloring. Mix the coloring into the dough. My coloring needs to be diluted with liquid according to the instructions, I took half a teaspoon of water for each color.
- Food coloring: to taste
- Sour cream: 1 tablespoon
7
Roll the dough into thin strands, as thin as possible. It's not easy; the dough tends to tear. Put it in the refrigerator.
8
We take a rectangular piece of dough and brush it with beaten egg.
- Egg yolk: 2 pieces
9
We cut the dough into strips. The width depends on how thin you rolled it; I cut it into 3 cm because I couldn't roll it thin.
10
Now we place the colored rod on the strip of white dough and roll it up. It's easier to roll with plastic wrap (like making roulades). It should be tightly rolled, with no gaps between the rod and the white dough.
11
Brush the top with beaten egg. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Egg yolk: 2 pieces
12
Bake at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
13
Let it cool completely, and only then can you gently 'sharpen' the pencils.
