Fried cottage cheese balls are a cozy treat of Russian cuisine that transports us to the atmosphere of a grandmother's house. Soft inside and crispy outside, they resemble miniature donuts but have a rich cottage cheese flavor with light vanilla notes. Historically similar products were found in traditional Russian baking, where cottage cheese was always an important ingredient due to its availability and nutritional properties. These balls are perfect as a dessert for tea or coffee and can also be a wonderful addition to the festive table. Powdered sugar adds an airy sweetness to them, while the golden crust makes them appetizing at first glance. The ease of preparation makes this dish a favorite among home cooks as it combines simplicity and pleasure in every bite.

1
Mash the cottage cheese in a bowl (if it's coarse, pass it through a sieve). Whisk the egg with sugar and vanilla until a strong foam forms. Sift the flour and mix it with the baking powder.

Knead a soft dough, make a sausage from it, cut into small pieces, and form balls the size of a walnut (to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, grease them with oil).
