The 'Rotten Stump' cake is a cozy memory of home baking rooted in Russian cuisine. The name reflects its unique texture: soft, airy layers soaked in sour cream create the effect of a layered stump. This dessert has a delicate, rich flavor where the sweetness of jam harmonizes with the light tang of kefir and sour cream. Its main advantage is the simplicity and availability of ingredients, making it a favorite choice for family tea time. Nuts, raisins or candied fruits add pleasant texture while syrup soaking makes the layers even juicier.
