Waffle tubes are a crispy treat from traditional Greek cuisine. Their history traces back to ancient Greek recipes that made sweet waffles with honey and nuts. The modern version consists of delicate, slightly sweet waffles that add lightness to airy dough. They can serve as a standalone dessert or the base for more complex treats when filled with cream, chocolate, or condensed milk. During preparation, the dough transforms into golden waffles that must be rolled while hot to take the shape of tubes. This simple yet elegant treat is perfect for both cozy family tea times and festive gatherings.
