Baked apples with cherries, pistachios, port wine, and orange zest are an exquisite dessert that combines the tenderness of baked fruit with the tartness of cherries and the refined sweetness of port wine. This dish draws inspiration from classic European recipes where fruits are complemented by nuts and spices, creating a rich palette of flavors. Baked apples have a soft, caramelized texture, while the filling with pistachios and aromatic spices makes them even more expressive. This treat is perfect for cozy evenings or festive dinners. It pairs especially well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, adding extra creaminess and softness to the dish. Enjoy this delicate indulgence that awakens warm memories and joy in every bite!

Put the cherries in a bowl, pour in the port wine, and let it sit for 2-3 hours.

Meanwhile, carefully remove the core from each apple without cutting all the way through (to the bottom). Make a shallow horizontal cut around the center of the apple to prevent it from bursting while cooking.

Fill the apples with filling and place them in a dish. Cover with foil on top and bake for 40-50 minutes until the apples are soft, occasionally spraying with apple juice. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Apple juice: 300 ml
