Spiced plum crumble is a true embodiment of cozy European cuisine, where rich spice aromas intertwine with delicate fruit tartness. Historically, crumble emerged in England during World War II as a simple and accessible dessert. In this variation, juicy plums are caramelized with red wine, molasses, and spices to create a thick aromatic syrup. The crunchy topping made from butter, flour, and brown sugar adds textural contrast, turning the dish into a perfect blend of softness and crunch. It is enjoyed warm with ice cream or heavy cream, enhancing the flavor even more. This dessert is ideal for cool evenings, filling the home with warmth and the spicy aroma of spices.

1
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Sauté the plums in 50 grams of butter for a few minutes. Add the split vanilla pod, star anise, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugar, then pour in the wine, molasses, and 50 ml of water. Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat for 6-8 minutes. When the plums are soft and the liquid turns into syrup, transfer both to a baking dish.
