Classic manna cake is a traditional Russian pie that is tender and airy thanks to semolina. It is believed to have originated in villages where housewives used simple ingredients to create hearty and tasty baked goods. Its texture is soft and slightly moist, with a pleasant taste featuring light sweetness and creamy notes. The cake absorbs syrups, jams, and even sour cream well, making it versatile for any tea gathering. Manna cake is especially delicious when paired with fruits, nuts, or honey. Its ease of preparation makes it popular among novice cooks, while the absence of oil in the dough makes it slightly less caloric while maintaining a rich flavor. This pie is perfect for cozy home evenings, warm family breakfasts, and friendly get-togethers.
