Red grape granita is an exquisite dessert of Italian cuisine, embodying the freshness and sophistication of Mediterranean flavors. This chilled sorbet with a rich aroma of grapes and a hint of lemon juice makes a wonderful ending to a meal on a hot day. The origins of granita trace back to Sicily, where it is made with various fruits to create unique flavor combinations. The addition of red wine gives the dessert a light wine note, enhancing the sweetness of ripe grapes. The texture of granita becomes airy due to gradual freezing while stirring, creating crystalline ice granules that pleasantly melt in the mouth. It is served in parfait glasses, often garnished with mint leaves or fresh berries. An exquisite and refreshing dessert that is perfect for summer evenings or special occasions.
