Meringues are a classic French treat known for their airy, light texture and sweet flavor. Their history dates back to the 18th century when confectioners began experimenting with whipped egg whites and sugar. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, meringues melt in your mouth, leaving a sweet cloud of delight. They are often used as a base for desserts, complemented by fruits, creams, or chocolate. They are easy to prepare: egg whites are whipped into a thick foam with sugar and then baked at low temperatures to achieve the perfect structure. Meringues can be served as a standalone treat or used to decorate complex desserts. They are wonderful as an accompaniment to tea or coffee and pair well with berries or nuts, creating a refined gastronomic harmony.
