Walnut cookies are a delicate and aromatic treat rooted in Armenian traditions. Nut-based pastries are widely found in Armenian cuisine due to local ingredients and a love for rich natural flavors. These cookies have a crispy crust and a soft center with a rich nutty aroma that unfolds with each bite. Walnuts add a slight bitterness and incredible depth of flavor, while butter gives a crumbly texture. Such cookies make an excellent addition to morning tea or coffee and serve as a wonderful dessert for family gatherings. They can be served as a standalone treat or paired with jam and honey to create new flavor nuances.
