Kefir pie with fish and cabbage is a cozy dish of Russian cuisine that combines the tenderness of the dough with a rich filling. Its roots go back to the traditions of village baking, where simple ingredients were transformed into hearty and aromatic pies. The fish gives the pie lightness, while the cabbage adds juiciness and softness. The kefir dough makes it especially airy, and butter adds richness to the flavor. It is perfect for a family dinner or warm gatherings with friends. Serve it hot, enjoying the crispy crust and tender filling, complemented by fresh herbs or sour cream. This pie evokes home traditions and delights with its simplicity and harmony of flavors.

Prepare all the ingredients.

2
Prepare the filling. Finely chop the cabbage and onion, and sauté in vegetable oil for 5 minutes.
- White cabbage: 600 g
- Onion: 1 head
- Vegetable oil: 30 ml

3
Reduce the heat, pour brine over the cabbage, add finely chopped garlic, cover the pan with a lid and simmer until completely soft, about 20 minutes.
- Cucumber pickle: 3 tablespoons
- Garlic: 2 cloves

4
At the end, add finely chopped green onions and dill.
- Green onions: 30 g
- Dill: 30 g

- Butter: 100 g
- Sour cream: 3 tablespoons

7
Add a little salt, 1 egg, and mix.

- Chicken egg: 1 piece

8
Mix flour with baking powder, sift into the butter and egg mixture, and knead the dough. It should be liquid enough to pour out of the mold like thick sour cream. Therefore, it's better to add flour gradually to achieve the desired consistency.

- Baking powder: 10 g

9
Line the baking pan with parchment and pour half of the batter into it.

10
Evenly place pieces of fish on the dough.
- Cod fillet: 250 g

11
Place the cabbage on top and level it.
- White cabbage: 600 g

12
Cover the filling with the remaining dough. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
