Grind the sugar in a mortar. Add it with red currant, apricot, or raspberry jam to a saucepan on the stove. Add 450 ml of water and cook on low heat, stirring for 10 minutes.

In a cup, mix starch with 2 tablespoons of water. When there are no lumps in the mixture, add it to the pot with the jam. Cook, stirring, for another 5 minutes.
