Sort and rinse pearl barley and peas, soak in water (2–2.5 L), and cook until the grains are soft.
- Peas: 1.5 glass
- Pearl barley: 2 tablespoons

Peel the onion, wash it, and chop it finely.
- Onion: 1 head

Fry until golden with minced bacon and add to the soup along with bay leaf and allspice 15-20 minutes before it's ready.
