French Toast with Fruit
4 servings
40 minutes
Beautifully sliced and arranged in a crystal bowl, fruit by the end of New Year's Eve often looks like a Flemish still life. Not the kind that glorify the luxurious gifts of nature, but the kind that, with the help of images of wilted fruit, convey to the viewer the idea of the transience of all things. We don't need such reasoning, especially on a holiday, so we take a slightly wilted fruit plate and arrange a spa for the finely chopped fruit in a frying pan, frying them in butter until lightly caramelized, and place them on ruddy sweet toast. With a cup of cappuccino - an ideal breakfast during the winter holidays.
