Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam are an iconic dish embodying the cozy comfort of northern cuisine. Originating as part of the traditional Swedish table, they gained popularity due to the harmonious flavor contrast: tender, juicy meatballs soaked in creamy sauce pair perfectly with the sweet-sour notes of lingonberries. This duo not only whets the appetite but also makes each serving special. Lingonberry jam enhances the meaty flavor and adds freshness to the dish, creating a perfect balance. Meatballs are served with mashed potatoes or fresh vegetables, making them an essential part of family dinners and festive gatherings.

1
In a large bowl, mix the minced meat, finely chopped garlic, lightly beaten eggs, bread crumbs, milk, and spices. Stir until homogeneous.
- Minced pork: 800 g
- Garlic: 10 g
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Breadcrumbs: 250 g
- Milk: 300 ml
- Black allspice: 5 g
2
From the minced meat, we form meatballs the size of a small tangerine and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
3
Send to a preheated oven at 220 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until cooked.
4
While the meatballs are baking, we prepare the sauce. For this, we melt butter in a saucepan, add flour, and fry while stirring for 2-3 minutes.
- Butter: 75 g
- Wheat flour: 50 g
5
The flour should not turn brown. While constantly stirring, we pour the milk into the saucepan in a thin stream, then in the same way.
- Milk: 300 ml
6
Heated broth. Add salt and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens (it should reach the consistency of sour cream).
- Meat broth: 600 g
- Black allspice: 5 g
7
Place the ready meatballs in a large deep dish and pour sauce over them. Mix and serve, garnished with lingonberry jam. Enjoy your meal!
