Cod baked under mushroom sauce is a classic dish of Russian cuisine that combines tender fish with the rich aroma of mushroom sauce. Historically, this recipe traces back to the traditions of Russian fish dishes, where cod holds an esteemed place due to its mild flavor and health benefits. Dusted in flour and fried, it gains a light crust, while the sauce made from mushrooms, tomatoes, and spices adds depth to the dish's flavor. Baked under a crispy cheese crust, cod becomes particularly appetizing. This dish is suitable for a cozy family dinner or festive table, pairing well with vegetable sides and light white wine.
