French-style meat with cheese is an exquisite dish with a delicate taste that combines the juiciness of meat, the aroma of baked onions, and the richness of melted cheese. Although the name hints at French origins, the dish became popular in Russia due to the adaptation of a gratin recipe. The hallmark of this dish is its simplicity in preparation and amazing flavor: meat infused with spices and creamy cheese becomes tender and rich. Baked in foil, it retains all its juices, making each piece succulent. It can be served with mashed potatoes or vegetables to highlight its richness. Perfect for a festive dinner or a cozy family gathering.

1
Cut the meat into steaks (not too thick, as it will take a long time to cook). Prepare the foil. Cut pieces large enough to wrap the meat completely. Season with salt and pepper on both sides and edges. Preheat the oven.
- Meat: 500 g
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste
2
Take the onion, peel and slice it into rings. Place it on the meat. Grate the cheese and put it on the meat. On top - mayonnaise. Wrap the meat in foil so that the juice does not leak while cooking in the oven.
- Onion: 1 head
- Cheese: 100 g
- Mayonnaise: to taste
