Mashed Potatoes with Nutmeg

Mashed potatoes with nutmeg is a delicate, airy dish with a refined aroma rooted in Italian culinary tradition. In Italy, mashed potatoes are often served as a side to meat and fish dishes, and the addition of nutmeg gives it softness and a warm spicy note. Carefully processed potatoes—boiled, dried, and whipped with butter and hot milk—become velvety and rich. This classic treat not only provides comfort but also enhances the flavors of main dishes with its creamy texture. It is served hot, sometimes finished with sea salt and white pepper to complete the flavor ensemble.

1
Peel the potatoes and cut them into 4 cm pieces. Place the pieces in a pot filled with cold water, add salt, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium, cover, and let it sit for 20 minutes (do not boil). Remove from heat when the potatoes are soft. Drain the water.
