Meat with gravy is a recipe that obviously came into being on its own. And which mankind has firmly and long ago adopted. Beef by its nature is the owner of a bright and very aromatic juice. It is easy to make a sauce from it , just combine slices of meat with water, and add fried onions, peppers and wheat flour to them for accompaniment, which will give the sauce a wonderful texture. You can serve this food with anything - any cereals, vegetables, cabbage soup , and in particular potatoes of all kinds will work well as a side dish, and you can even do without a side dish at all, just dip a plump piece of bread into the aromatic liquid.

Cut the meat into small pieces.
- Beef: 900 g

Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the meat over high heat until golden brown. If the pan is small, it's better to fry the meat in batches.
- Vegetable oil: 60 ml

Transfer the roasted meat to a thick-walled pot.

Chop the onion into small cubes and fry it in the same pan until golden.
- Onion: 2 heads

Put the onion in the pot with the meat.

Pepper and lightly salt the meat with onions, pour in water, bring to a boil, cover with a lid and simmer on low heat for 40–60 minutes.
- Ground black pepper: to taste

In a small saucepan, melt the butter, add flour and sauté, stirring, until the flour turns caramel color.
- Butter: 40 g
- Wheat flour: 30 g

Pour 3 ladles of broth from the pot with meat into the flour in the saucepan and whisk until smooth.
- Water: 900 ml

Pour the resulting sauce into the pot with the meat, mix it, add tomato paste, sugar, bay leaf, and peppercorns. Mix again, cover with a lid and simmer for another 20-30 minutes.
- Tomato paste: 1 tablespoon
- Sugar: 0.5 teaspoon
- Bay leaf: 1 piece
- Black peppercorns: 5 piece

At the end, salt the meat with gravy to taste. Serve with your favorite side dish, such as mashed potatoes.
