Cornmeal dumplings are a simple yet cozy dish of Ukrainian cuisine that embodies rural traditions. Cornmeal gives them a light graininess and a delicate flavor with subtle nutty notes, while cottage cheese makes them airy and soft. The dumplings are boiled in boiling water and then served with sour cream, butter, or aromatic cranberry sauce that adds a slight tartness and enhances the depth of flavor. This dish was often prepared in Ukrainian families as a quick and nutritious breakfast or dinner.
