Compote from dried fruits with spices is a fragrant and warming drink that combines the richness of dried fruit flavors with the spiciness of spices. The origins of such drinks date back to ancient times when dried fruits were one of the main ways to preserve harvests. In this recipe, prunes, apricots, raisins, and figs reveal their natural sweetness complemented by the citrus freshness of lemon and orange. Cinnamon and cloves add a spicy note, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. The drink is perfect for winter evenings, family gatherings or festive feasts. It can be served chilled to enjoy its rich fruity taste or experimented with by mixing in red dry wine. Compote is comfort in a cup and a journey back in time to the traditions of ancient Russian and Eastern cuisines.
