A favorite of Don Draper in Mad Men and one of six existing basic cocktails , according to David Embury, author of The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks, an encyclopedia of 20th-century cocktails. What else can you say about the Old Fashioned? You can do without the cherry.

Ingredients

• Bourbon: 60 ml
• Angostura: 2 ml
• Orange bitter: 1 ml
• Brown sugar: 1.5 tsp
• Lemon zest: to taste

Cooking steps

1. Make a ball from a block of ice with a diameter of approximately 8 cm. Place the ball in a serving glass.

2. Dissolve sugar with both bitters in a mixing glass. Add bourbon and stir. Pour into a glass. Garnish with orange peel.

   • Angostura: 2 ml
   • Orange bitter: 1 ml
   • Bourbon: 60 ml
   • Lemon zest:  to taste
