Mozzarella in a Carriage
2 servings
30 minutes
A simple and delicious snack, a closed sandwich with cheese inside. The bread serves as a "carriage" into which the mozzarella is tightly placed, and the sandwich is fried on both sides in a frying pan. The additions can be both sweet (cinnamon with sugar and strawberry jam ) and salty. We offer a video recipe for mozzarella in carrozza, as it is prepared in Rome. An ideal snack with a glass of very cold sparkling wine such as prosecco or franciacorta.

1
Cut the crusts off the bread. Slice the mozzarella into pieces about one centimeter thick.
- Mozzarella cheese: 125 g
- Toast bread: 4 pieces

2
Make sandwiches from bread and cheese and cut them in half diagonally. Press the sandwiches, trying to keep the cheese from escaping.

3
Coat the sandwiches in flour, paying special attention to the exposed cheese. Then dip them in eggs beaten with salt and pepper.
- Wheat flour: 100 g
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste

4
Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- Vegetable oil: 700 ml
