Latte Macchiato in a French Press

1 serving

360 minutes

Latte macchiato in a French press is a true embodiment of the sophistication of European coffee culture. This drink emerged as an elegant way to enjoy the rich flavor of coffee, the softness of milk, and the airy lightness of frothy foam. Unlike classic latte, macchiato creates a layered effect where coffee is carefully poured into milk, creating a beautiful gradient of shades. The French press plays a key role here, allowing the aroma of freshly ground beans to fully unfold while also frothing the milk into a delicate cloud. Latte macchiato is perfect for leisurely morning enjoyment or cozy gatherings. The light bitterness of coffee harmonizes with the sweetness of milk, and chocolate shavings add a subtle dessert note, turning each cup into a small work of art.

Cooking steps
  • 1

We heat the French press with hot water. We add ground coffee to it. I add about 4 teaspoons, which is about 36 grams.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Ground coffee3 teaspoons
  • 2

Pour 150 g with boiling water at a temperature of 90 degrees. Note that if you pour with boiling water, the coffee will lose its best taste and aroma qualities. Stir a little.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Ground coffee3 teaspoons
  • 3

Then we cover the French press with the lid, so that the plunger slightly touches the coffee.

  • 4

Brew the coffee for about 4-5 minutes. No more, so the coffee doesn't lose its properties.

  • 5

When there is about 1 minute left until brewing is finished, heat 150 g of pasteurized milk in the microwave for 2 minutes.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Milk150 ml
  • 6

When the coffee is brewed, we slowly push the plunger down, then pour the coffee into a preheated glass from which we will later pour the coffee in a thin stream into the milk. We wash the French press.

  • 7

Pour heated milk into the French press, then move the plunger up and down, and see the milk froth. Do this for about 20-30 seconds.

  • 8

Pour frothed milk into a latte glass and let it sit for about 20 seconds to create a boundary between the foam and the milk.

  • 9

Slowly pour coffee into the center of the glass with milk.

    Required ingredients:
    1. Ground coffee3 teaspoons
  • 10

You can add grated chocolate on top of the foam.
