Rinse the grains, add them to 3 liters of boiling water, and cook over moderate heat, skimming off the foam that forms.

Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds, let it sit for 5 minutes, then drain the water, rinse the seeds, pour boiling water again and immediately drain as soon as droplets of oil appear on the surface.
